Little Free Libraries – Back in time for summer!

***THE LITTLE FREE LIBRARIES ARE BACK IN TIME FOR SUMMER***

A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange which does not require the use of a library card. Anyone may “borrow” a book left in a Little Free Library or donate one (or more) of their own. Although often distinguishable by its birdhouse shaped exterior, little free libraries come in all shapes and sizes.

HISTORY OF LONG BEACH LIBRARY’S LITTLE FREE LIBRARIES:

The Long Beach Public Library (in collaboration with the City of Long Beach) installed its first four Little Free Libraries in 2014 based on the idea of librarian Tanya Suarez-Matos.  Since then, the program has expanded. Today, there are more than half a dozen Little Free Libraries stationed throughout the City of Long Beach and in the hamlets of Lido Beach and Point Lookout.
