  Turnpike Joe & The Traffic Jam

   Turnpike Joe & The Traffic Jam, now in its 40th year entertaining Long Island NY, is happy to bring its signature sound and tight interpretations of Rock/Pop tunes of the 60’s & 70’s plus originals, to the LB Public Library. The music group presents something unique and different in this “Mixed Music Bag” concert, throwing some surprises into the mix, performing anything from Pachelbel’s Canon in D and a Christmas in July Celebration, to tunes by Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, The Ramones and Tom Petty.....a fun show for ages 8-80. The band welcomes Special Guest Kim Longo on sax/flute/clarinet/piccolo. Band Members: Turnpike Joe - lead/rhythm guitar, vocals; Joanne J-Bird Phillips - bass, percussion, vocals; Ira Kaye - bass, percussion, vocals ; Jay Sharkey - drums, vocals.

   JFK was an iconic figure for many Americans; young, dashing, charismatic and idealistic, he promised a brighter future for America - a new frontier. His presidency was the noble and romantic Camelot, with the Kennedys as the royal family. His promise, as we all know, went unfulfilled. Those however, who lived during the Kennedy years rate him as an outstanding President, most historians do not. Let us examine that time, the Bay of Pigs, the Cuba missile crisis, Vietnam, the Peace corps and find out where you would rate him.
